Your data
Data Use Policy
Your health data stays on your device. NOOP reads your band over Bluetooth and does all the analysis right there. Nothing is uploaded.
Last updated: 30 June 2026
The short version
- Everything NOOP reads from your band lives in a local database on your device.
- We collect nothing: no telemetry, no analytics, no identifying crash reports.
- There is no cloud, no sync, no accounts, no servers. Nothing leaves the device.
- You can export your data, and you can delete it by deleting the app or clearing it in-app.
1. What the app reads from your band
When you connect a supported band over Bluetooth, NOOP reads the signals it makes available. Depending on the device, that can include heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep, skin temperature, motion and activity, and battery state. NOOP supports WHOOP (4.0 fully; 5.0 and MG for live heart rate) and Oura (3, 4 and 5, in beta).
This data is written to a local database on your device and stays there. It is not uploaded anywhere. All scoring and analysis happens on the device, using your data. NOOP is not affiliated with WHOOP or Oura, and it is not a medical device.
2. What we collect
Nothing. There is no telemetry. There is no usage or behaviour analytics. There is no crash reporting that identifies you or phones home. We do not know who you are, what your readings are, or that you are using the app at all. We have no way to, because the app never talks to us.
3. No cloud, no sync, no sub-processors
Because nothing leaves the device, there is nothing to host. There is no cloud storage and no account to sign in to. There is no sync between devices. There are no sub-processors or third parties handling your data on our behalf, and there are no international data transfers. The data simply lives on the one device that read it.
4. You are in control
It is your data, on your device, and you decide what happens to it. You can export your data from within the app. You can delete it by deleting the app, or by clearing it in-app. Once it is gone from your device, it is gone, because there is no copy of it anywhere else.
5. The AI Coach
The AI Coach is optional and off by default. It works on a bring-your-own API key basis: if you choose to turn it on, you supply your own key for a provider you have chosen. When you use it, your prompt goes directly from your device to that provider, under that provider's terms. It never passes through us, and we never see it. If you do not turn it on, nothing about this feature ever runs.
6. The website
This website collects nothing. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It stores only two functional values in your browser (a theme preference and a note that you have seen the privacy notice), and those never leave your browser. For the full detail, see our Cookies notice and our Privacy Policy.
NOOP is an independent, open-source project run by a small team. The licence is PolyForm Noncommercial. The iPhone build is experimental and sideloaded.
