Privacy
Privacy, by design and by default.
NOOP exists so your health data stays yours. The app does all of its work on your device, and this website is built to know as little about you as technically possible: no accounts, no analytics, no tracking cookies.
Last updated: 30 June 2026
The short version
- This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and embeds no third-party trackers or scripts.
- The only thing stored on your device is your light or dark theme choice and whether you have dismissed the privacy notice. Both stay in your browser and are never sent anywhere.
- We do not ask for, collect, or hold any personal data. There is no account to create and no form that sends us your details unless you choose to email us.
- The NOOP app itself is fully on-device. Your heart rate, sleep and recovery never leave the hardware in your hand.
1. Who this policy is for
This policy covers the NOOP website (the pages you are reading now, served at noop.fans and mirrored on GitHub). NOOP is an independent, open-source project run by a small team. We are the people responsible for this site and for the project. You can reach us at the address at the bottom of this page.
The NOOP applications for macOS, Android and iPhone are separate from this website. They are designed to run entirely offline and do not send your health data to us or to anyone else. There is more on how the app handles data on the about and science pages.
2. Personal data we collect: none
We do not collect personal data through this website. To be specific, we do not:
- ask you to create an account or sign in;
- run analytics, audience measurement, heatmaps, or session recording;
- set advertising or tracking cookies, or use device fingerprinting;
- embed third-party widgets, social buttons, comment systems, or remote fonts that would report your visit back to another company;
- sell, rent, or share data about you, because we do not have any.
If you choose to email us, we will of course see your email address and whatever you write, and we will use it only to reply to you. We do not add you to any list.
3. Cookies and local storage
This site uses no cookies at all. It does use a small amount of your browser's localStorage for two strictly functional things that never leave your device:
noop-theme, remembers whether you chose light or dark mode, so the site opens the way you left it.noop-privacy-ack, remembers that you have already seen and dismissed the privacy notice, so it does not reappear on every page.
These are functional preferences, not tracking, and under UK and EU rules they do not require a consent banner. We show a short, dismissible notice anyway because we would rather be clear than quiet. You can clear both at any time by clearing site data in your browser, and nothing about the site will break.
4. Server logs
This site is served by a standard web server. Like almost every web server, it may keep short-lived technical logs (for example an IP address and the file requested) purely to keep the service running and to defend against abuse. These logs are not used to build a profile of you, are not linked to any identity, are not shared, and are kept only as long as needed for security and reliability.
5. Donations
NOOP is funded entirely by optional crypto donations. If you donate, you send directly to a public blockchain address shown on the donate page. We do not run a payment processor, do not ask for your name, card, or email, and cannot see who you are. Blockchains are public by nature, so a transaction is visible on the chain, but nothing on our side links it to you.
6. Links to other places
We link out to GitHub, to the noop.fans code mirror, and occasionally to other sites. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's property and their privacy policy applies, not ours. We have no control over how they handle your data.
7. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, and similar laws, you have rights over personal data that an organisation holds about you, including the right to access it, correct it, or have it deleted. Because we hold no personal data about visitors to this site, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or erase. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, just ask and we will remove it.
8. Children
NOOP is a general wellbeing tool and this site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and post the new version here. Because the whole project is open source, the full history of this page is also visible in the public repository.
