Terms
Terms of Use.
The plain-language ground rules for using NOOP and this website. NOOP is free, open source, and built in good faith. These terms keep everyone honest about what it is and what it is not.
Last updated: 30 June 2026
The short version
- NOOP is free and provided as is, with no warranty.
- NOOP is not a medical device. It is for general wellbeing and education, not diagnosis or treatment.
- NOOP is an independent project, not affiliated with WHOOP or Oura.
- Donations are voluntary and non-refundable, and unlock nothing. Everything is already free.
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using the NOOP applications, or by using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use NOOP. These terms apply alongside our Privacy Policy.
2. What NOOP is
NOOP is a free, open-source companion app for compatible WHOOP and Oura devices. It reads data from your band over Bluetooth and presents it on your own device. It is built and maintained by a small independent team and is funded entirely by optional donations.
3. Not medical advice
NOOP is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent any disease or condition. Every number it shows, including recovery, strain, sleep, heart rate variability, stress, and any age or longevity estimate, is an estimate for general wellbeing and education only. It may be inaccurate. Do not use NOOP to make medical decisions. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional about your health, and seek immediate help in an emergency. You use NOOP at your own discretion and risk.
4. No affiliation with WHOOP or Oura
NOOP is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, authorised by, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to WHOOP, Inc. or Oura Health Oy in any way. "WHOOP" and "Oura" and related marks are the property of their respective owners and are used only to describe device compatibility. You are responsible for ensuring your use of NOOP with your own device is consistent with any agreements you have with those companies.
5. Provided as is, no warranty
NOOP is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, or non-infringement. We do not promise that NOOP will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, or compatible with every device or operating system version. Hardware support, especially for newer bands, is a work in progress and some features are experimental.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the NOOP project and its contributors are not liable for any loss or damage arising out of or in connection with your use of NOOP or this website, including loss of data, loss of profits, or any indirect or consequential loss. Because NOOP is free and runs on your own device with your own data, you remain in control of, and responsible for, how you use it.
7. The iPhone build is experimental
The iPhone version is distributed as an unsigned build that you sideload onto your own iPhone using your own free Apple ID and a third-party tool such as AltStore or SideStore. This is an Apple platform constraint, not a NOOP choice. Sideloaded builds re-sign on a schedule set by Apple and some Apple-only features may be unavailable. You are responsible for understanding and following the sideloading steps on the download page.
8. Licence and open source
NOOP's source code is published openly. The code is released under its stated open-source licence, which you can read in the project repository. These Terms of Use govern your use of the apps and this website; the source-code licence governs your rights to the code itself. Where they overlap, the source-code licence controls the code.
9. Acceptable use
Use NOOP lawfully and sensibly. Do not use it to break the law, to interfere with the project's infrastructure, or to misrepresent NOOP as an official WHOOP or Oura product. Do not remove the project's notices or pass the work off as your own in violation of the source-code licence.
10. Donations
Donations are entirely voluntary, are made to public crypto addresses, and are non-refundable. They do not buy a licence, a subscription, a feature, priority support, or any other entitlement. Everything in NOOP is, and will remain, free for everyone regardless of whether you donate.
11. Links and third parties
NOOP links to third-party sites and tools, such as GitHub and sideloading apps. We do not control those services and are not responsible for them. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.
12. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top and post the new version here. Continued use of NOOP after a change means you accept the updated terms. As with everything in the project, the full history of this page is public in the repository.
